Bi-Annual Congress Committee (BCC)
In order to assure continuation of the Bi-Annual congresses, the Committee shall seek out, at least 4 years in advance, sites for future congresses.
The BCC is to be distinguished from the Congress Organziing Committee. The COC shall be responsible for the organization of a single bi-annual congress, for which the site has been determined by Board. In general, not more than two COCs will be active concomitantly.
- Maintain and, where necessary update, the on-line call instructions for congress proposals as well as all policies related to bi-annual IDEALS congresses.
- Actively seek-out sites of future congresses, identify IDEALS members who may be willing and able to serve as Congress Directors, and contact potential co-organizers
- Review all proposals for future congresses and make recommendations to the Board for future congresses.
- Make suggestions for the general theme of the congress
- Advise the Congress Organizing Committee. As soon as a decision has been reached about the site of a future congress, the BCC shall transfer the responsibilities for the further organization of the congress to the relevant Congress Organizing Committee. However, the BCC will continue to function in an advisory capacity to the COC.
- Maintain contact with any IDEALS members desiring to organize a meeting or congress other than the bi-annual congress under the auspices of IDEALS, and advise the Board about granting permission to do so.
The Committee shall be chaired by an IDEALS Board member. The IDEALS Treasurer shall serve on this Committee ex-officio. The Committee shall have at least two IDEALS members not presently serving on the Board. Among the membership, there shall be at least two IDEALS members who have either chaired a past bi-annual congress or have been intimately involved in the organization thereof. Except for the ex-officio member, all BCC members serve staggering four year terms.
