Membership Committee (MC)
The MC seeks to expand the membership of IDEALS foster active participation by the IDEALS members in the Society.
Functions:- Actively seek to expand the membership of IDEALS
- Maintain the on-line IDEALS membership database
- Contact individuals who have cancelled their membership to determine the reasons for leaving the Society and propose changes to the Board to better retain membership
- Maintain a database of individuals who are not (past) members of IDEALS, but may have interest in the fields of dental ethics and law.
- Maintain an up-to-date listing of all committees on the IDEALS website, including membership and terms.
- Maintain, with the help of committee chairs, a list of vacancies for all committees, including the specific qualifications sought for those vacancies.
- In consultation with committee chairs, contact IDEALS members, and specifically new members, and invite them join specific committees.
- Make recommendations to the Board for the appointment of new committee chairs.
The Committee shall be chaired ex-officio by the IDEALS President-Elect, unless a more urgent committee (such as a Congress Organizing Committee chairmanship) precludes him/her from assuming this task. In that case, the Committee shall be chaired pro tempore by another IDEALS Board Member . The Assistant-Secretary (or Secretary) shall also serve as an ex-officio member and supervise the maintenance of the databases. At least two other IDEALS members shall be appointed to the Committee and all members serve staggering four year terms.

In order to advance the effectiveness of the Society, a number of permanent committees have been established. Members interested in joining one or more of these committees are encouraged to contact the Secretary of the Society, or the Chair of the respective Committee(s).
